Account & Events Manager

Position Location: 
York, PA
Full-Time 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM | Monday – Friday

The Account/Event Manager is the primary liaison and point of contact for assigned client accounts. Primary responsibilities include budget oversight, reporting, client communication, and marketing in support of the sales effort. The Account/Event Manager is involved in the development of overall account strategy as well as individual project management. The Account/Event Manager is integral in building relationships and communicating with all internal and external stakeholders including clients, design, content, media sales, event and sponsorship sales, logistics and planning, technology services, print operations, accounting and finance, and YGS corporate sales.

Essential Functions: 
  • Communicate with clients to understand their goals and objectives.
  • Operate as the lead point of contact for all matters specific to the client.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with clients.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to facilitate and fulfill client needs.
  • Develop new business with existing clients and/or identify areas of improvement.
  • Develop account strategy as well as individual project management.
  • Collaborate with client in the development of sponsorship opportunities.
  • Collect and analyze sales data to provide recommendations.
  • Prepare reports on account status.
  • Collaborate with sales team to identify and grow opportunities.
  • Maintain updated knowledge of company products and services.
  • Resolve client issues in a timely manner and preventing additional issues by improving processes.
  • Identify industry trends.
  • Manage client budgets.
  • Act as a client advocate.
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing and/or communications preferred.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • A minimum of 4–5 years of experience in a similar client-facing role required.
  • Account management experience in marketing and even exhibits/sponsorship sales environment, with a proven track record in managing and growing accounts.Excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as outstanding relationship-building, analytical, and organizational capabilities required.
  • Identify and report variances between actual and budgeted financial results.
  • Working knowledge of print and digital specifications and publishing.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Sales Force, and the ability to use relational databases.
  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office products on Mac and/or PC platforms.
  • Knowledge of and experience using of CRM systems.
  • Familiarity with event floorplan software.
  • Excellent customer service and relationship-building skills required.
  • Current knowledge of strategies, trends, and technologies in the publishing and event fields required.
  • Ability to maintain a fast pace and work with a sense of urgency.
  • Flexible team player who learns quickly, can work independently, has outstanding prioritization and time management skills, has a proven ability to multi-task, and works well under pressure.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
Physical Requirements: 
  • The person in this position needs to occasionally move around inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Constantly operates a computer/laptop and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 60 percent of the time.
  • Will participate in staff and client meetings 30 percent of the time.
  • Will regularly walk about, bend, stoop, twist, reach, push, pull, lift, lower, and grasp.
  • Speaking, especially where one must frequently convey detailed or important instructions or ideas to others.
  • Repetitive motion: frequently and regularly required to use the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
  • Average hearing: ability to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information.
  • Average visual abilities: ordinary visual acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents or data on computer screen.
  • Ability to lift up to 10 pounds consistently and lift to 20 pounds occasionally required.
  • Environment is considered to contain low/medium noise levels.
  • Environment is not regularly exposed to extreme changes in temperatures or weather conditions.
  • Travel to attend YGS-related events, conferences, client meetings, training, etc., approximately 10 percent of the time. Some overnight travel required.
  • Overtime as dictated by the needs of the business.
